Tucked down a series of small streets in Naples is the hidden community of Pine Ridge Estates. Large luxury homes perch on lots of at least an acre. It’s one of the only upscale, non-gated communities in town.

That’s what attracted Nancy Davenport to set down roots there for her and three daughters in 2001.
“It is hidden,” Nancy began. “We love that it wasn’t gated. We love that it was on land. We are almost 1.5 acres. We love that we could have the kids and the dogs outside, and we entertained a lot.”
Nancy purchased the new home and then added and remodeled it to suit her lifestyle. She had an addition built for a game room and another master bedroom. She remodeled the kitchen and added a butler’s pantry, lots of storage areas and a kennel area for her dog.
“We made a purse closet instead of a coat closet,” Nancy continued. “Everyone thinks it’s kind of cool they can hang their purses up.”
The home is big and luxurious, but also inviting, and that’s what Nancy wanted for her daughters.
“People ask ‘what is your favorite room?’ And the kids use every single room,” Nancy explained.
They hang out in the game room with its large air hockey table and sitting area by the television. They sit by the fire pit, relax in the two living rooms and enjoy the pool.
“They are everywhere,” Nancy stressed.
That’s probably why Nancy says her bedroom and her den are her favorite places.
“In my bedroom, I have two lounge chairs and I love to read,” she said. “It usually is a full house when they are home, and I give them space.”
With a house on 1.3 acres of land that spans 7,348 square feet under air and 13,170 square feet of total space, it never feels crowded, Nancy said.
“We love to entertain,” she said. “We have thrown big parties of 150 people and between the inside and the outside, you don’t even feel it’s that many.
The entry leads to a two story sitting room that overlooks the lanai. This sitting room has a fireplace set in a wall of light stone, chairs and a couch. Nancy says she and her daughters enjoy sitting by the fire, but they spend more time in the other living room that is near the kitchen. That one has a wall of sliding glass door that leads to the lanai, and comfortable seating by the television.
“This is where as a family we all hang out,” she said.
The nearby gourmet kitchen was remodeled and has two spacious islands.
“The kitchen has a warming drawer,” Nancy said. “I didn’t want one, but then I got it and it has been my lifesaver.”
The remodel also includes an entire wall of floor to ceiling windows that overlook the lanai. A table sits beside those windows, but there is also a formal dining room area on the other side of the kitchen. The dining room has a table for eight and a glass wine room that holds up to 360 bottles. There is a fingerprint lock on the wine room so the kids can’t get in. There is also a computer itemized list of wines.
The butler’s pantry is like another smaller kitchen with its refrigerator, dishwasher, cabinets and countertops. Nancy says it is perfect for entertaining because any food preparation mess can be hidden there.
Beyond this great room is the spacious lanai with its pool and spa, sitting and dining area and outdoor kitchen.
“I like to sit out here and have my coffee and look at the lake especially now it is so nice,” Nancy said. “It is so peaceful sitting out there and having my coffee outside.”

The home is listed as having six bedrooms, plus an office. The master bedroom has a king sized bed and two plush chairs by the windows. There are sliders to the lanai and a humongous walk in closet. The master bathroom has a glass door that leads to the fire pit area.
There is a guest suite that has sliders to the patio and is large enough to include a sitting area with a rounded couch. Two of her daughters have bedrooms downstairs and one has an upstairs suite. A little room between the bedrooms has become a multi-purpose room.
“It was the baby room and then a study room and now an exercise and hang out room,” Nancy described. “This room has been a mixture of everything.”
When her twins were younger they shared a very large bedroom that has two queen sized beds, glass doors that lead to the lanai, a bathroom and a kitchenette. When the twins became teenagers one of them moved upstairs to a bedroom with unusual windows. Since this bedroom was not by an outside wall, windows were put in that overlook the sitting room by the entry and get the light and view of the outside though that room.
There is also a loft area upstairs with comfy couches and bookcases. The loft used to be a playroom, but is now used mostly as a reading room.

The game room could be a sixth bedroom suite since it has a closet, windows and even its own entrance. Nancy’s office is designed more as another sitting area. It does have a small glass table desk, but also has couches and a television.
“This is another sanctuary of mine,” she said.
The home has a two car garage plus a golf cart garage. There is a lift that can be used for an additional car. Nancy now uses that lift as a big shelf for holiday decorations. Beside the garage is a large air conditioned storage room and two kennel rooms.
Nancy fondly recalls have huge Easter egg hunts for her daughters and their friends with more than 500 eggs hidden on the property. She tells stories of her daughters and their friends playing in the pool and in the yard with the dog.
“The memories are great,” Nancy said.
Now her twins are in college and her youngest is a high school junior and will be heading to college in a year and a half.
“I don’t think I want to be in this big house all by myself when they are all gone,” she said. “They say ‘keep the house for when we have kids,’ but you know how long that will be, and they will probably be in California,” she said. “All my kids are going to go off to college. It’s so difficult. When I did the remodel on his house I did everything I needed, but now it’s too big.
James Bates with Premier Sotheby’s International Realty is co-listing the home. He says it is a remarkable house that has already seen a lot of interest from potential buyers.
“The size of the lot on nearly an acre and a half and the privacy and the size of the house,” James listed. “Certainly the current owner loves the house. It is very, very private. It is a nice view with the lake. At the moment a lot of clients are looking for larger homes for extended family especially during the lockdown. Having six bedrooms is definitely a bonus during this time.”
Bates said the community also makes the home attractive.
"Pine Ridge Estates has kind of exploded in the past few years,” he explained. “Buyers are looking for more land, but with everything that Naples has to offer. There are very few places that are close to the beach, close to the shops, and close to the restaurants that are on large pieces of land. We have had a lot of interest in the house.”
The home is listed for $4.6 million.
