They say your home decor reveals a lot about you. That statement fits me perfectly. When I set out two years ago to decorate my new home, I wanted it to be a reflection of not only my personal style, but also how I wanted to feel living in the space.
This was top of mind with every choice I made. I love the beauty of expertly crafted furniture but hate the stuffy feeling of too traditional pieces. I love the formality of defined spaces but hate the closed-in feeling of walls. Although it’s still a work in progress — not a big fan of my tile flooring or kitchen and bath layout — I love the idea of tackling these not finished spaces very soon.

Changing up my living space has always been a labor of love. Whether it was the small townhouse, my first adult home, or the large house overlooking the Caloosahatchee River where we raised our children, I was up to the challenge of picking out furniture and accessories to reflect our lifestyle. For others the idea of making these difficult home decor choices is too intimidating to tackle. That’s where this month’s Grandeur steps in.
If you’re looking for design ideas, what better way than to explore the Aviano at Fiddler’s Creek in Naples? This beautifully crafted model home boasts a splash of the unexpected coupled with high quality, page 27.
In our cover story, “Design & Décor,” local experts share the hot decor trends in demand. One trend that might have seen its time come and go is the Mediterranean style, which is starting to fade in our area in favor of a more light and contemporary ambiance, page 33.
In our shopping column, we offer up trendy choices in furniture, wallpaper, lighting and more. You never know, one of these items could spark to life that inner interior decorator, page 39.
But the issue isn’t all about the home. It’s about exploring beyond your front door, too. The LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort exudes a modern coastal feel with its beachy color palette and a menu centered around seafood. From grouper tacos, lobster bisque and lobster black truffle risotto being a few.
We’re also all about hot trends in fashion. You’ll easily make a statement by incorporating one of the bright hues that add plenty of personality to your spring fashion wardrobe.
Whatever your style, whether home or personal, enjoy the journey — it’s worth taking.
Until next month …
